When I first started investing in real estate, I was all about the numbers\u2014ROI, cap rates, spreadsheets. What I underestimated was the cost of neglecting the details<\/em>.<\/p>\n

One night, a call from my property manager about a leaky toilet cost me $200\u2014on top<\/em> of the fees I was already paying. Then came tenants vanishing mid-lease, poor communication, vacant units collecting dust, and eventually, heartbreak: theft, damage, court battles that went nowhere. I lost everything<\/em>.<\/p>\n

That pain forced me to wake up. I saw what I had missed: the power of preventive maintenance, tenant quality, and managing property like a business<\/em>. I learned\u2014sometimes the hard way\u2014what truly matters.<\/p>\n
